College (Latin: collegium) is a term most often used today in the United States to denote a degree-awarding tertiary educational institution and in other English-speaking countries to refer to an academically oriented secondary school. More broadly, it can be the name of any group of colleagues, for example, an electoral college, a College of Arms or the College of Cardinals. Originally, it meant a group of persons living together, under a common set of rules (con- = "together" + leg- = "law" or lego = "I choose"); indeed, some colleges call their members "fellows". The precise usage of the term varies among the English-speaking countries. In the United States and Ireland, for example, the terms "college" and "university" may be regarded as loosely interchangeable, whereas in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and other Commonwealth countries, a "college" is usually an institution between school and university level (although constituent schools within universities are sometimes known as "colleges").

What college is the best for studying the accounting profession in the state of Michigan?
Q. I am considering a college change. I have just earned my Associates at Baker College of Flint. I was wondering if there is a more credible college here in Michigan that may be recognized if I search for a job outside of the state or if I were to move further up north. I realized that most of my professors with degrees and CPA certifications have gone to the University of Michigan. Would I be seen as a more credible candidate if I went to U of M instead of Baker? Would it look bad to get my degrees (Associate and Bachelor) from two different colleges? I would appreciate professional answers.

A. You want to get yoru Bachelor's degree from the best institution possible and with the best grades you can achieve. You will have access to more corporate recruiters and a better alumni network if you attend the University of Michigan, so I would advise you to go there.

How important are the grades in college when transferring to another college?
Q. I have way better grades now in college than in high school. I am planning to transfer to another college and as much as I could see I will need high school transcripts. I already have over than a full year in college...so, in this case will I still need HS transcripts

A. I am in the same boat as u, the college you are transferring to mainly/only looks at your college transcript for grades and everything els. the only thing they'll chech your HS transcript is for foreign language requirements and to see if you graduated high school.
